After various delays caused by an outrageously wet winter and then a global pandemic we’ve finally been able to install the Lion King inspired benches at Mosterton, Dorset.Stonewater, a leading provider of affordable housing, chose us last autumn to design and sculpt some memorial benches for their new housing development, The Bushels. They’d named the street Naomi Close in memory of beloved local woman Naomi Haskell, who tragically passed away from meningitis. They wanted the benches to also represent Naomi and the theme of the Lion King was chosen as it was one of Naomis favourite films. The benches have been carved, mainly by Kim, from locally grown, sustainably sourced timber from David Harness Tree Management using chainsaws and a few power tools. They were installed at the site on Friday 18th Sept 2020 and the response has been magnificent. We’d like to thank Naomis family and Stonewater for their support during this project, it’s been an emotional and wonderful commission to be part of.Here’s a couple of videos for you to watch. The first is a short piece documenting the project and showing the final pieces in situ. The second, more importantly, is a video about meningitis, the signs and symptoms. Please watch it, it could save someone’s life.
