"Octopus are a symbol of my love of the sea, both being near it and in it, the fascination of the creatures that depend on it, and also my passion to protect it and nurture it back to a healthy state. But the Octopus is not just a token sea animal, that is aesthetically beautiful and intriguingly intelligent to me. The females are mothers who quite literally give their lives for their offspring. A behaviour that is both profound and beautifully sad. So many parallels can be drawn between their self sacrifice and the lives of many human mothers."
